Message from the Director
The FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup 2020 tournament was to be hosted by India in November 2020 but is now being held from 10 – 30 October 2022 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. This is the first time ever that such a big international Women’s Football competition takes place in India and therefore it offers an unique opportunity to individuals, institutions along with Non-Governmental organizations, as well as corporate and Government agencies to leave their legacies to our cities, state and country.
The Karuna Football Foundation has emerged to recognise that underprivileged girls need encouragement, teaching and the tools to enable them to break free from poverty and to give them the chance to fulfill their God-given potential. It is focused on improving the lives of individuals who are disadvantaged or impacted by societal conditions – with a key objective being to provide “self-empowering” aid that allows individuals to improve their own lives through football.
There are different Initiatives that have been envisaged including an All Women’s D-License Coaching program with the All India Football Federation in colaboration with the Goa Football Association. There is also a Legacy Cup initiative that is planned at an all India Inter Academy Girls Under-16 Level which will comprise of 4 Academy teams from accross the country. This will provide a platform for the girls to be motivated to excel in the sport and also enable them to be the prospects of the National Football Team in the future.
